Rather than being an old heirloom, this exceptional variety was selected from Thierry's traditional joualle—a classic French system where fruit trees and grapevines are grown together. First released in 2017, Joualle Rouge quickly attracted attention for its striking appearance, dense crimson flesh, and outstanding eating quality. Though still uncommon outside Europe, it has earned an enthusiastic following among collectors who appreciate both its beauty and its refined flavor.

The medium-sized fruit ripens with smooth, glossy yellow-green skin that creates a dramatic contrast with its deep blood-red interior.
