Rayos de Sol—Spanish for "Rays of the Sun"—is a unique caprifig discovered by Sacred Origin in Shasta County, California. Developed with breeding and conservation in mind, this distinctive male fig produces abundant pollen for caprification while also setting an attractive edible summer crop, an uncommon trait among caprifigs.
The edible fruit displays beautiful coloration and has shown excellent promise, although its flavor profile and performance outside fig wasp regions are still being evaluated. Rayos de Sol is believed to be a persistent caprifig capable of producing edible fruit without pollination, but this has not yet been confirmed.
