Bordissot Negra Rimada is one of the most celebrated striped figs to emerge from Spain and is widely regarded as one of the finest berry-flavored cultivars available today. The variety originated on the island of Mallorca in the Balearic Islands, where it was discovered by renowned fig conservationist Montserrat Pons growing from an aged tree near a traditional stone wall on the property Ca n'Aina Pont in Sant Llorenç des Cardassar. Locally known as Verdeleta Pintada, the tree is believed to be a natural striped mutation of the classic Bordissot Negra, retaining the same outstanding fruit quality while developing spectacular variegated skin. Pons preserved and introduced the variety through his extensive collection of traditional Balearic figs, ensuring its survival and eventual distribution to collectors around the world. It is a common fig and is self-fertile, producing a single main crop without requiring pollination.

The medium-sized fruit is unforgettable, beginning with vivid green and yellow striping that gradually darkens to deep purple and nearly black as it reaches full maturity. Beneath the striking exterior lies a rich crimson interior with an exceptionally thick, jam-like texture.
