The story begins when new homeowners started clearing the overgrown woods behind their property, revealing a hidden grove of wild fig trees. While exploring the site, Chris identified one tree whose fruit stood out from the rest for its exceptional sweetness and texture. Originally introduced as Easton Find, the variety was later renamed Brown Sugar Crunch to avoid confusion with other Easton figs while capturing the unforgettable flavor that made it an instant favorite. Since its introduction, Brown Sugar Crunch has earned widespread acclaim for its outstanding eating quality, dependable productivity, impressive cold hardiness, and consistent performance across a wide range of climates. Although some collectors believe it may be closely related to the variety known as Teramo Unknown, its exact identity remains unconfirmed.

The medium-sized figs ripen to a warm brown exterior with subtle green and bronze undertones, often developing delicate surface crackling as they reach peak maturity.
