Coll De Dama Ciutat

Coll de Dama Ciutat (also spelled Col de Dame Ciutat) is a distinguished heirloom fig from Mallorca, Spain, where Ciutat—meaning "city"—refers to the island's capital, Palma de Mallorca. A prized member of the celebrated Coll de Dama family, this common (self-fertile) variety is admired for its exceptional fruit quality, dependable performance, and richly complex flavor.

Unlike many Coll de Dama cultivars known for their long, elegant necks, Coll de Dama Ciutat typically produces more rounded, pear-shaped fruit with thick green skin washed in purple hues and adorned with attractive web-like cracking as it ripens. Inside, the flesh develops into a dense, syrupy mass of deep crimson to violet, creating the signature jam-like texture for which the Coll de Dama family is renowned.

Its flavor is intensely rich and beautifully layered, combining concentrated strawberry and raspberry preserves with notes of wildflower honey and soft caramel. The sweetness is balanced by a subtle acidity that enhances its complexity, while the skin is notably thinner and more pleasant to eat than many other Coll de Dama selections.
