Petite Aubique
Petite Aubique is a prolific French-origin common fig variety known for its exceptional productivity, rich berry-and-honey flavor, and heavy breba production. Often associated with the Violette de Bordeaux family, this rare selection combines the qualities of a classic dark French fig with outstanding dessert flavor.
The small to medium-sized fruit ripens with beautiful dark violet to purplish-black skin, sometimes developing a fine blue bloom or subtle cracking as it reaches full maturity. Inside, the figs reveal a deep strawberry-red interior with a thick, syrupy texture that becomes wonderfully jammy when fully ripened on the tree.
Petite Aubique delivers an intense sweetness balanced by rich berry flavors and delicate honey notes. Its tight eye helps reduce splitting and makes the fruit more tolerant of humid conditions compared with some varieties with more open eyes.
This common (self-fertile) fig produces both an abundant breba crop and a productive main crop, making it an excellent choice for growers seeking a reliable, high-yielding French variety with premium eating quality.
