This green-skinned variety produces attractive fruit with a richly colored ruby-red interior and offers a flavor that lives up to its name. Fully ripe figs combine bright strawberry notes with sweet-tart tropical guava, complemented by delicate floral undertones that add depth and complexity. The skin has a pleasant, slightly chewy texture, while the tight, closed eye helps protect the fruit as it ripens.
Beyond its exceptional flavor, Strawberry Guava has a remarkable story. The original seedling grew on a historic property containing Native American and pioneer artifacts and survived a devastating wildfire that burned it to the ground. Regrowing from its roots, the tree went on to produce the distinctive fruit that is now being shared with collectors.
