Eve's Black Cherry is a remarkable California fig discovered growing untended along a fence line on a ranch near Black Point in Novato, Marin County. The original tree was found by horticulturist John Valenzuela while caring for the property of Evelyn "Eve" Diamond, whose name the variety proudly carries today. Recognizing the exceptional quality of the fruit, Valenzuela preserved the tree and later shared cuttings through a California Rare Fruit Growers scion exchange, allowing this once-hidden local treasure to become one of the most sought-after modern collector figs. Although the original tree grew in California's fig wasp region, Eve's Black Cherry has since proven itself to be a dependable common fig, producing outstanding fruit without pollination in growing regions across the country.

The large, drop-shaped figs ripen with attractive green skin accented by pronounced ribbing and conceal a dense, dark ruby-red interior. The flesh is rich, meaty, and luxuriously jammy, delivering layers of ripe black cherry, blackberry preserves, and mixed berry compote balanced by deep fig sweetness.
